It seems like yesterday when ZYLK joined the European Data Incubator program (EDI), along with 30 other startups across Europe. This program, which has three qualifying rounds (Explore, Experiment, Evolve), aims to promote projects in the field of Big Data by contacting large companies such as Volkswagen, RACC, Sonae, Migros, JOT Internet Media, Virtual Power Solutions, Via Verde, YapiKredi, EFE, UBIMET, EMASESA, Energa Operator, VRT among others, with the intention of capitalizing on the most cutting-edge advances within this area.

Zylk accepted the challenge proposed by Volkswagen Navarra: to develop models of predictive maintenance for robots in plant. In October 2018, at the Datathon in Berlin it was confirmed that Zylk was one of the 16 startups that exceeded the first phase of the program, moving on to the experimentation phase. At the event, Zylk’s CEO David Olmos reflected on the potential benefits of the participation.

In the second phase of EDI, the project has been materialized into Industrial Robots Insight : a product that encompasses an easy-to-install appliance that collects data from each robot and a Big Data architecture that analyzes it. This real-time analysis allows reducing maintenance costs by foreseeing errors that produce stops in production as well as managing and saving on the electricity consumption of the plants.

The EDI team will soon attend the final event of the current phase the 18th of February at the University of Deusto. There the team will present a video showcase of IRI: here are some snapshots of the recording.

Finally, we have decided that we are going to take part in the two most important Industry 4.0 fairs;  Hannover Messe and BeDigital 2019 to display the wide array of functionalities that IRI offers.

EDI project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 779790.
